Special Education
I have had experience working with children in special education while doing my practicum. I worked with students in fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh grade. I taught math to fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. I also taught writing and reading to sixth grade students. While working with sixth grade students, I noticed that one student was having a lot of problems using descriptive words. She did not understand where they went in a sentence. I went home that night and created a story to help her see where to place descriptive words. The link below is the story I wrote for her. My cooperating teacher liked it so much that we ended up using it to assess how all the students were doing using descriptive words.

For the second half of my practicum, I worked with seventh graders. During this time I had the opportunity to work with other teachers doing a "class within a class" in language arts. I also taught in two study skills classes. During the time I was there, I created a Propaganda project for students to complete during study skills that went along with there language arts class. I learned a lot during this experience. The following link is to my final Evaluation for my practicum in Cross-categorical Special Education
